It is backstamped Alexandrie Arrivee 9 AO 82, Leeds 4 B 16 AU 82 and Gargrave AU 17 82. Wilson was with the 10th price of Wales Own Royal Hussars who was returning to India from leave in England. He served in the 1885 Suaking campaign.     £20
137Stampless cover sent via the War Office. It is backstamped London S.W. N SP 6 82 and has the London l official paid 6 SP 82 applied to the front. It was received at the war office at Horseguards . This is the only cover known to date with these markings. There is a letter from Lt. Herbert Haldane Somers-Cocks to his mother. Cocks served with the Coldstream Guards and was present at the battle of Tel-El-Kebir. He later served with the Worcester regiment.     £50

139Incoming letter from England to lieutenant Sandbach of the Royal Engineers postmarked Abergele AU 15 82. The important item on this cover is the backstamp of British Army post office/c/24 au 82. Of the 54 or so covers recorded with the BAPO c.d.s. only 4 are with the code c. This is the earliest recorded use of any of the BAPO datestamps. also, it is one of only two recorded examples where the day precedes the month and only one of two covers where the c.d.s. is used as a transit marking on the reverse of the cover     £50
