Q33 March 21, 2007  from member ESC 589

At Newcastle Philatelic meeting this evening the talk was on Russian Postal history in the first 3 decades of the twentieth century. During the civil war 1919-23, some South Russian refugees were housed in Tel- el-Kebir. The speaker showed a cover addressed to Miss Louisa Hine, Sheffield, England with Army PO SZ25 cancel and a postcard with an unreadable FPO cancel 1920 addressed to Mlle. Chirikoff in Cairo. These are Tel-el-Kebir cancels. Does anyone know what happened to these people? One of our Newcastle members was stationed there in 1953. ESC 589.

Thank you
