Q9 I recently accuired a postcard from Egypt to Ancaster(Canada) in Feb. 1918. It is headed: Mrs. Karney's Soldiers Rest Cliopatra, Alexandria Feb 16/18 The text is a bit hard to read but suggests an Ancaster lady, I think the name is Mary Collenette, working there. Have you ever heard of his place? I'm assuming that it was not a military hospital and wondering if it could have been Red Cross or an equivalent. A google search turned up nothing. Any help appreciated. R1 April 2006. ESC 594 Try starting at the other side of the picture & contact the 'Ancaster News' community newspaper in Ontario. If they were helpful enough to print a query from you with regard to the family then, who knows?, you may find the modern-day local generation with family photos correspondence.... going back to ...?? Collenette is a well-known & respected surname in Canada. Good luck. The 'Ancaster News' can be reached by fax on (001) 905 526 1855 or e-mail to editor@dundasstarnews.com |
