Zeppelin Postal Markings

Special overprinted stamps were placed on sale at Alexandria, Cairo, Port Said and Suez, and only at these offices was the mail officially accepted. Each post office was issued with a special handstamp.

While postal items can readily be found for the first three, little use was made of the Suez cancel and it has been suggested that as few as ten items may exist.

Needless to say, these rarities are well sought after by Egypt and Zeppelin philatelists and command a considerable premium.
